2012 ജൂലായ് മുതലാണ് ഒ.എം.ആര്‍. പരീക്ഷ ആരംഭിച്ചത്. 

2019 മുതല്‍ ഓണ്‍ലൈന്‍ പരീക്ഷയും. കമ്പ്യൂട്ടര്‍ ലാബിന്‍റെ ലഭ്യതക്കുറവുമൂലം ഒറ്റ പരീക്ഷയായല്ല ഒണ്‍ലൈന്‍ പരീക്ഷ നടത്താറ്. 

ഒന്നില്‍ കൂടുതല്‍ ചോദ്യപേപ്പറുകളിലായി വിവിധ തിയതികളില്‍ വിവിധ സമയങ്ങളിലാണ് നടത്താറ്. 

കെ.ഇ.ആര്‍ പരീക്ഷ 2020 ജൂലായില്‍ ഓണ്‍ലൈന്‍ പരീക്ഷനടത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ രണ്ട് ദിവസങ്ങളിലായി 4 പരീക്ഷകളാണ്  KERന് നടത്തിയത്.
